Jay Lindsay is a composer, organist and pianist based in New Haven, CT. He has a B.Mus. from the Hartt School and a M.Mus. from the Peabody Institute in Baltimore, MD. He has studied composition with Stephen Gryc and Nicholas Maw and organ with Larry Allen and Donald Sutherland. His compositions include pieces for full orchestra, wind ensemble, choir, and various solo instruments and chamber ensembles. His works have been performed and recorded throughout the east coast.


Jay has served as an organist and music director at churches throughout New York, Maryland and Connecticut. He is currently the music director at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Wallingford, CT where his responsibilities include playing the piano and organ, and conducting the adult and youth choirs. His previous experience has included serving as the Minister of Music at First United Church of Christ in Milford, CT and as the Music Director at St. Augustine's Church in Seymour, CT. Jay also serves as a staff accompanist for the United Girl's Choir.


Jay is very active in the American Guild of Organists, and has previously served as the dean of the New Haven Chapter. He is currently a member of the board of the Bridgeport chapter, as well as the commissions coordinator and member of the Steering Committee for the American Guild of Organists convention to be held in New Haven in 2015. Jay is also an active member of the Royal School of Church Musicians and Music Teachers National Association.


Jay is passionate about teaching, and has been teaching students in piano, organ and composition for over 14 years. He teaches students of all ages and skill levels, in styles including jazz and classical. He is currently accepting new students.
